On August 5, 2025, twelve students enrolled in Nuclear Fusion Research Education Program visited National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS) in Toki City, Gifu. During the visit, they toured the institute’s large-scale experimental facility—the Large Helical Device (LHD)—and gained valuable insights into various aspects of fusion research. These included the principles and implementation of plasma diagnostics and heating methods, as well as the mindset required to maintain a safe and high-quality experimental environment.
The students also had the opportunity to learn about ongoing research directly from many faculty members, including NIFS Director General Prof. Yamada. These exchanges deepened their understanding and broadened their perspectives by connecting the cutting-edge research at NIFS with their own academic work.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Nishiura and all those involved in hosting the visit.
